The New York Times magazine is set to release a series titled “The 1619 Project.” Journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones was interviewed on a morning show program to talk about the series, the history of slavery, and how it’s continuation shaped America into modern-day society.

On this recent edition of Give It Some Thought, “The 1619 Project” was discussed to educate listeners about the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans in the colony of Virginia.

Dr. Harold Bennett talked to Dr. Samuel T. Livingston, Ph.D. to get his thoughts on the project and his assessment on how the history of slavery is taught in America. Samuel T. Livingston, Ph.D. is an associate professor and director of the African American Studies Program at Morehouse College.
