The City of Atlanta held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of the new Thomasville Resource Center.

The center was a library that was shut down due to budget cuts and had become an eye sore in the community. When local citizens heard of the closing, they reached out to local Councilwoman Carla Smith and Commissioner Marvin Arrington Jr and worked with them to turn the center into a resource center for elderly, children and the community. Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms attended the ceremony and shared how her mother was a teacher in the community.

The Thomasville Resource Center will offer a variety of amenities including computer and internet access and meeting space for the community. The Department of Parks and Recreation will continue to work with the community to implement additional programs and activities.
