Organizers call it Atlanta's largest job fair for youth. The Atlanta Opportunity Job Fair & Forum is being held on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at the Georgia World Congress Center. A coalition of companies and foundations have joined with Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and more than 75 local leaders and others to put on the hiring fire.  The aim is to hire at least 1 Million youth nationally by 2021. Atlanta is the 7th city to host the hiring fair. More than 2,000 attendees are expected, and 1 out of 3 is expected to land a job. Youth ages 16-24 are encouraged to register by going to 100kopportunities.org/atlanta

Che Watkins, President & CEO of the Center for Working Families is coordinating all of the community based organizations on behalf of the 100,000 Opportunities coalition. According to Watkins, it's much more than a job fair, "we're providing help with resumes, interview tips and training, legal services, immigration services, immigration services, and even lining these youth up with mentors." Watkins adds, "there's no excuse for a person not to come, it's on the MARTA line. All they have to do is show up. We'll take care of them."
