"I was a sucker for love" says Bridgette Simpson. She was dating a man, who she says, was committing armed robberies. She went to prison because she used a credit card taken during a robbery.

Six years prior, Simpson says she was attending Rutgers University, on a James Dickson Carr Scholarship. The honor, according to the University website, is "awarded to minority students on the basis of academic promise as demonstrated in high school work and SAT or ACT scores." Simpson says she went on to graduate with a degree in finance and a minor in Africana Studies. She was an honor graduate. But, 2 years later, she found herself in a situation she never imagined.
