A car reaches speeds of at least 130 mph in a chase with police in Atlanta. It started Tuesday afternoon, when the driver of the allegedly stolen 2010 white Hyundai Veracruz, refused to stop near Lee Street and White Street.

The vehicle eventually crashed through a metal fence on Capitol Avenue and flipped onto the ledge of the westbound ramp of Interstate 20 to the northbound Downtown Connector.

APD spokeswoman Stephanie Brown said there were at least four occupants in the vehicle. Brown also said that a female was detained and transported to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Atlanta Fire and Rescue spokesman Cortez Stafford reported from the scene that one person had been taken into custody, while the others ran.

Onlooker Julie Reinhardt, who recently moved from Seattle and works in the area said, "I don't think I've ever lived in a more interesting downtown."

Reinhardt, watching the activity from along the Capitol Avenue bridge, also said, "I just don't know how somebody could blow through a steel fence like that and run away from the vehicle."
