Today the Atlanta Police Department held a press conference to provide more details regarding the body of Timothy Cunningham, the Atlanta CDC and Prevention Epidemiologist, that was last seen February 12th, 2018. Investigators reported that Cunningham's remains were discovered Tuesday in the Chattahoochee River near Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard.  Fulton County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Jan Gorniak stated that Cunningham's preliminary cause of death was drowning and that authorities were able to positively identify Cunningham's body by using dental records.

When asked what led investigators to comb that area, APD Maj. Michael O’Conner stated that Cunningham was missing personal identification because he left them at home. Fisherman found the body and notified the authorities.
