David Manuel and WAOK on-air personality Derrick Boazman are partnering together to strengthen families and help save lives by encouraging people to become organ donors.

More than 116,000 patients are on the national waiting list for a lifesaving organ transplant. And roughly 58% of the patients awaiting life-saving transplants are minorities. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health, In 2015 only 13.5% of Black Americans were registered as organ donors and 29.8% were on the U.S. Transplant waiting list. Organ donation is a topic that most people do not discuss or think about until there is a need for an organ. However, the sobering truth is that each day close to 22 people die because the organs that they need are not donated in time.

Saturday, June 16th hundreds of people will gather at Green Forrest in Decatur, Ga for the I Am A Father 5k Race hosted by David Manuel.  This 5K is not only strengthening families and promoting organ donation but is also a catalyst uniting community male-focused organization.
