The website is called Atlanta's Open Checkbook and is expected to be up and running by the summer. City of Atlanta COO, Richard Cox, spoke about the new portal and provided more insight into how it is designed.

Mayor Bottoms acknowledged there had been concerns about ethics and transparency in part to the ongoing federal investigation into corruption at City Hall. Both Bottoms and Cox said the goal of the online portal is to increase transparency about how public money is spent.
