In August, Georgia's primary runoff election served as a test for state and county election officials who are looking to avoid lengthy delays and any other issues in November for the General Election.

This cames after many voters stood in line up to six hours throughout metro Atlanta to cast their ballot for the primary election in June. The trending causes of the long delays were issues with the new voting machines, polling location closures due to the coronavirus pandemic, staffing shortages, and a large number of voters never received their absentee ballot. The national embarrassment pressed Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to make the changes to help avoid future election disasters.

Some of the adjustments made, include hiring new poll workers, increased poll worker training, and technicians in every voting location in Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett counties. Fulton County experienced the most severe problems in the primary, opened the largest early voting site in Georgia at State Farm Arena. The county also plans to add dozens of polling places before the presidential election.
