Rashad Richey Exclusive: Vernon Jones Rescinds Resignation But Resident Says He Doesn't Live In The District

The Rashad Richey Morning Show
April 23, 2020 - 6:26 pm
GA State Democratic lawmaker Vernon Jones recently endorsed President Donald J. Trump. Shortly after his endorsement, Jones announced he would resign from his State House seat in District 91. In an "about-face", Jones rescinded his resignation just one day later, but he may not be out of the woods yet.

Georgia resident, Faye Coffield, who resides in House District 91, where Democratic lawmaker Vernon Jones represents his constituents, recently filed a 50+ page residency challenge against Jones. Coffield shared her side of the story on The Rashad Richey Morning Show.

According to the complaint filed by Coffield and her attorneys, Jones does not live in the district he represents. If true, the affidavit Jones signed when qualifying to run for the seat could lead to criminal charges.

Based on documents obtained by WAOK, Jones was scheduled to appear and provide evidence of his residency to an administrative judge via virtual conference on or before April 23rd. Which makes his resignation announcement on April 22nd suspicious to many.

Jones, a lifelong Democrat, maintains his boisterous endorsement of President Donald Trump was due to him wanting to fight racism in the Democratic Party and support a president who has done more for Blacks than any other president.

Residency challenges have led to criminal charges being filed against public officials before.

Faye Coffields full complaint is in the link below.
