Rashad Richey Exclusive: Rep. Vernon Jones Abruptly Ends Interview After Resigning From State House

The Rashad Richey Morning Show
April 22, 2020 - 12:23 pm
Just after announcing his resignation as a GA legislator, Democratic State Representative Vernon Jones came on The Rashad Richey Morning Show to discuss his recent endorsement of President Donald J. Trump. Jones has been criticized by many Democrats for his decision, sparking much debate about his ability to politically survive in the Democratic Party.
Jones cited three reasons for his endorsement of Trump; higher education for African-Americans, unemployment and criminal justice reform. Dr. Rashad Richey, a noted researcher, provided statistical data and facts that challenged Jones' talking points. Representative Jones called Richey's sourced data, of which some was derived from the federal government, "fake news".
Representative Jones, frustrated he couldn't provide clear answers to the overwhelming employment and reform data presented by Richey, decided to abruptly end the interview, leaving the host and listening audience in disbelief.
Before ending the interview, Jones did say he would remain a Democrat, but went out of his way not to say anything critical of the Republican Party. His criticisms were only of other Democrats and the Democratic platform
