Oprah Winfrey, added to her legacy this week.  The Media Mogul and Philanthropist gifted an additional $13 million to Morehouse College on Monday; further contributing to her scholarship program at the institution. In 1989, she made a $12 million donation to the Oprah Winfrey Scholars Program, which has educated about 600 students through the program.

The gift comes after the college announced budget cuts to help with the school's cash flow problems. Officials at Morehouse say,  over the next nine months, the school will cease matching contributions to retirement funds for all employees. In addition, most of the professional staff and faculty will receive a monthly furlough day.

During the announcement this week, Winfrey said: "I was really surprised to learn that it's been 30 years since I made that $12 million donation to Morehouse, so today I would like to add $13 million to that."

I am also feeling hopeful for Morehouse and what it has garnered in terms of philanthropic support with gifts like Oprah's and Robert Smith's. I am hopeful that this will also get others to step up with their support of Morehouse, but even more broadly, historically black colleges and universities."

Winfrey's combined donations total $25 million and are the largest endowment in the history of the school.
