3-year-Old Killed in Drive By Shooting

Dekalb County police are investigating a drive by shooting that resulted in the death of a toddler.

3-year-old T’Rhigi Diggs was shot and killed Sunday night while asleep in the backseat of his mothers vehicle.

According to reports, Diggs' mother, Rashonda Craig, was driving on Bouldercrest Road in southeast Atlanta around 11:30pm when a grey dodge challenger pulled up besider her and fired a shot into the back seat.

“My baby was sleeping, my baby was sleeping in the backseat when I saw the car come past, I saw a paintball gun but then I heard a real gun. When I heard the gunshot, my baby started crying. I didn't know my baby was shot,” Craig told wsbtv's Tyisha Fernandes.

Diggs was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital. He celebrated his 3rd birthday on Friday.

An investigation is ongoing as authorities determine a motive to the crime.

Police are asking for information about the shooting or the Dodge challenger.

According to Craig, the vehicle had a temporary tag.
