New Suspect in Secoriea Turner Shooting, Reward Increased To 50k

As police continue to investigate the shooting death of an eight-year-old who was shot and killed last weekend near the Wendy's off University Ave, community leaders are harnessing their power to seek justice for Secoriea Turner.

During a press conference on Monday, the Davis Bozeman Law Firm, along with The Cochran Firm Atlanta, who represents the family, announced that efforts are being expanded to seek justice for Secoriea Turner. Community leader and activist, WAOK's Derrick Boazman, will be organizing teams of volunteers to canvas various neighborhoods passing out reward flyers and collecting any information that may lead to an arrest in the shooting. 

Recently, the Atlanta Police Department identified a new suspect in the shooting. The family's attorney Mawuli Davis also shared that detectives stated that the original person of interest was no longer a suspect, and the most recent suspect seen in the photo is who they are looking to question.

While speaking today, the young girl's parents Secoriey Williamson and Charmaine Turner, emotionally pleaded for those who have information to come forward. Secoriea Turner was shot and killed as she rode in a car with her mother and a friend on July 4th near the Wendy's, where Rayshard Brooks died. The driver was trying to turn around after encountering illegal barriers when a group of armed men confronted them and opened fire into the car.

In addition to Crime Stoppers, 20,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest, Community leaders, private donors, and the family of Secoriea Turner have collectively given an additional 30,000 making the total reward 50,000.

Community leaders have also established an anonymous hotline for anyone with information to call. Law students will be available to answer calls. Local attorneys Kalpin Shaw and Robert Kenner Jr will also answer questions and provide representation to anyone pro bona who provide information that helps lead to the arrest of anyone involved in the shooting. The hotline number is 1-866-969-2004.

The public viewing for turner is on Tuesday, and the private funeral is Wednesday, media mogul Tyler Perry is paying for her funeral.
