A Polk County man found guilty in one of the most horrific cases of animal cruelty was sentence to prison Tuesday afternoon.

A jury found 32-year-old Devechio Rowland guilty of 214 counts of dog fighting and animal cruelty last month.

Rowland was sentenced to 15 years in prison and an additional 35 years probation by Judge Richard Sutton Tuesday.

Nearly 100 dogs were found starving and chained in the woods of Rowland's Aragon, GA property in what Polk County Police called, "one of the worst cruelty to animal cases we have ever seen."

In 2010, Rowland was arrested and charged with animal cruelty and dogfighting, but the charges were dropped after the main witness in the case died.
