Georgia Congressman David Scott (GA-13) has introduced legislation creating a Housing Assistance Fund to aid homeowners harmed by the global coronavirus pandemic.  If approved, The State Housing Relief Act would provide $35 billion in funding to states to deliver essential support for homeowners in need of mortgage payment assistance, principal reduction, or utility payment assistance.

In a statement, Congressman Scott says:

“My bill, which authorizes funding to all 50 states and territories, will help homeowners struggling to make ends meet in the midst of this global pandemic,” continued Scott. “In recent days, Congress has passed economic stimulus legislation to help small businesses and families weather this storm. As we continue to craft a coordinated and comprehensive response, we must take every step in our power to protect housing security for all Americans.”

Scott believes that Congress must act to keep them in their homes while this crisis intensifies. He believes that The State Housing Relief Act will provide Americans across all 50 states and territories critical assistance.
