Atlanta Police Officer Resigns After Being Arrested In Drug Raid

Former Atlanta police officer Iris Rowe resigned after being arrested Monday in a College Park apartment where seven pounds of marijuana and prescription pills were found. According to the AJC, Rowe was notified by the Atlanta Police Department that she would be dismissed from employment at an emergency hearing with Chief Shields on Thursday. Rowe who joined the department in 2016 chose to resign. In her resignation letter, Rowe apologized to the department for the “shameful act.” 

College Park Police Chief Keith Meadows said officers obtained a warrant to search the apartment where they found Rowe’s uniform, badge, and other gear. They also discovered guns and nearly $8,000 in cash. Officers also arrested Jeremy Laye and Tony Robinson.
